Bill Viola in San Marco church, MIlan
“The Path” by Bill Viola, one of the fathers of video art, is a three-screen panoramic moving image of individuals walking through a wooded environment. In 2010, an edition of it was given on loan by a local collector to San Marco Church, Milan – the place is just five minutes walking from the famous Accademia di Brera. The dialogue between this amazing piece and the sculpted sarcophaguses around it – which are of a similar scale – tells about life and death, individualism, nature, life after death, and much more. Strongly reccomended.
