At the show with the artist: Davide Stucchi visits Frida Kahlo / Diego Rivera

Stefano Pirovano

With Davide Stucchi we payed a visit to the exhibition dedicated to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera by the Musée de l’Orangerie. That’s what happened a few days later

Two weeks ago, early in the morning we visited the exhibition dedicated to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera at the Musée de l’Orangerie with Davide Stucchi. We queued 30 minutes outside, we saw quickly the Monet ‘s Water Lilies, and then we went trough the crowed Mexican-colored rooms where documents, photographs and paintings by the celebrated couple of artists are currently on show. Then, because we are always looking for new perspective and unconventional sight on art history, we asked to the artist to write a piece for us regarding some ideas we have discussed during the visit. Nothing arrived until yesterday evening, when three letters have abruptly appeared on our email. Two of them are dated November 22nd, and are addressed to Diego Rivera. The first is a love message, the other reports abut surrealism and the current show at l’Orangerie. The third letter is a sweet message to Josephine, almost certainly Josephine Baker, Frida’s female lover write the same day of the others. Is it a counterfeiting? No, we would call it an artist slant.
