Looking behind Ella Kruglyanskaya’s painting

This photo was taken a few days ago in Turin, inside the storage of Artissima. The guy who is unwrapping this painting by Latvian artist Ella Kruglyanskaya involuntarily becomes an extension of the work, providing an unpredictable cluster of meanings. In effect, as the woman is putting her right hand behind the big sheet of paper on which an intimidating black man is sketched, the guy is behind the canvas, apparently looking for something. The cycle of art making are here perfectly represented: drawing (the idea), painting (the execution), experiencing (the real object).

A mystery lies in between every degree, and only who have access to the “work” knows what there is really behind it.
